Outfits for her usually consist of leather pants, laced up in the back, and peasant tops that have low swooping necks, and baggy sleeves, matched with a leather corset on the outside. She wears knee-length boots, and fingerless gloves. She has smooth skin, tanned from spending most of her life out doors. Raven has a moon-shaped scar on her left eyebrow, from a fall when she was a child. It is an inch long, and paler than her skin tone, making it noticeable. She also has long, slender scars on her back from being whipped by an abusive captain.

Raven was born to John and Ruby Hathaway, an upper-middle class couple living along the coast of the Pacific Ocean. When she was 7 years old, pirates raided her town, killing many people, and kidnapping her, along with ten other young girls. She spent three years as a servant to an abusive captain, cleaning up after him, and cooking his meals, all the while being beaten regurlarly. The captain's favorite weapon of choice to beat her was a whip. He often hit her hard enough to break the skin on her back, leaving long, thin scars. She watched the other kidnapped victims either die or be sold into slavery, and longed to be free. When she was 10 years old, the crew of pirates she was imprisoned by stopped to raid a small coastal village. While the majority of them were on land, Raven snuck out of her quarters, and off the ship. She made it to land, only to be caught by the abusive captain. He slapped her around, until she fell, and then he kicked her in the ribs, until he was stopped by a sixteen year old pirate named Ivan. Ivan's father had also stopped to raid a coastal village, and had docked his ship to see what was going on. Ivan knocked Raven's captain unconscious, and carried Raven back to his father's ship. Scarlette Rose and her mother looked after Raven while she healed from her beating. She stayed on Pirates Cove, knowing that she had nowhere else to go. She learned knife throwing techniques from the woman who adopted her from Scarlette and Ivan's family, and taught herself to fight with daggers, by watching others. She often sparred with boys her age, and more often than not, she won.
Now, twelve years after she came to live at Pirates Cove, Raven has mostly burried her past, a dark memory swallowed up in happier times.
