They were death eaters of high rank in the Dark Lord's army before and after his first defeat. Gabby's parents were rarely ever around, as they were always "working." Her family is the typical wealthy pureblooded families of old. There is no mixed blood in her line, but Gabby feels the need to change that. Her parents had her down for Hogwarts on the day she was born, even though she was raised in America. She has duel citizenship in both London and America. Her mother and father's "career" has moved them all over the place. Gabby has sometimes spent long periods of time alone at home, or with one parent while the other was away working. Very rarely was the family home together. All of her relatives live in London but Gabby didn't like visiting them, either. While she was still in school, her mother and father forced Gabby into service to the Dark Lord. When the Dark Lord was defeated, all of the deatheaters were hunted down. Gabby gave herself up willingly. She was found to be working against her own free will and pardoned from all crimes.
