Out time period starts 416 years after the original and 316 years after the spin of "The Legend of Korra" takes place. Our world is plunged into war. We've passed through 6 Avatar cycles.
Our new Avatar comes from the Earth Kingdom. Her name is Madeline and she is 16 years old. The Air Nomads are slowly beginning to repopulate. The Nomadic tribes are spread out between the four Air Temples, each tribe roughly around 100 population. We're in the middle of a war. It's turning brother against sister, friend against friend, and no one can figure out who started it or why.
Waterbenders:
A Waterbender can control water in all of its forms, as a liquid, a solid (ice or snow), or a gas, including moisture in the earth and ground This gives the Waterbender a variety of defensive moves.
A Waterbender's power comes from a limitless internal life energy know as Chi. Because of this a Bender's power and ability is often tied to his or her emotional state. For instance, when a less experienced Waterbender gets angry, his or her waterbending force may increase in intensity, but all control will be lost. Waterbenders also possess the unique ability to increase circulation and "heal" the body through bending - because the body is 75% water. Waterbenders are most powerful when the moon is full (as only the moon and the Avatar have the ability to push and pull the tides of the ocean).
One potential weakness waterbenders face is the possibility that they are in a place where no water is to be found. Just incase there is not enough moisture around, smart waterbenders carry skins filled with water to defend themselves against enemies at all times.
Firebenders draw their energy from a variety of sources and the size of the source determines how much fire can be manipulated by the art of bending. For instance, bending fire from a candle will not be as strong or powerful as bending from a forest fire. Expert benders possess unique abilities to increase and even create fire. These powerful benders derive their energy from their inner chi - as well as cosmos including the sun and comets.
Firebenders' greatest strength is the fact that their element can continue doing damage after the bending has stopped: fire can cause destruction even on its own. Combining this quality with the techniques of a masterful bender who draws energy from one's inner chi can result in a spectacular and fatal combination.
Darkness and eclipses of the sun can weaken a Firebender's abilities as they draw upon the powers of the cosmos. Firebenders are also vulnerable to the Waterbenders ability to extinguish the flames with their element. Because of their strong and agressive nature, Firebenders are traditionally lacking in defensive moves, which can also leave them at a disadvantage in one-on-one battles.
Though the Earth Kingdom is ruled by a monarchy - the distinct cultures of the Earth Nation are several and varied with a range of classes. One region is distinctly different than the next in terms of mythology, physical likeness and cultural traditions across this nation. Earthbenders however share in common a deep connection to the Earth & a firm commitment to resist enemies and protect their cities and villages by any means necessary.
Earthbenders root their powerful bending abilities deeply within the earth itself. They can strike the ground with their hands or feet, manipulating the dirt and stone beneath them. For instance, stomping on the ground hard can cause an earthen wall or boulder to shoot up -- which can then be kicked at enemies.
Earthbender's most significant weakness is their inability to manipulate metal - which has been exploited by their enemies through metal armories, ships and metal fortified prisons - which keep the earthbenders from being able to fight back.
Airbenders
The Air Nomads are a peaceful people and have learned how to harness the power of the air currents. Unlike children of other nations, all air nomads are born with airbending abilities. The Air Nomads learned their bending from benevolent yet intelligent six-legged creatures called flying bisons. Flying bison are paired for life with airbenders as they come of age and can travel long distances using their wide tails to navigate through the air currents.
An Airbender is probably the most powerful bender of all of our four nations. An airbender's power comes from the air, and air is all around us. Because of this, an airbender can bend anywhere in the world without ill effects.
However, an airbender's main weakness is fire. All fire needs to grow is air, heat, and fuel. Because of this, if an airbender were to fight against a firebender, the airbender would have a high chance of losing the fight and his or her life.
The Avatar
The Avatar is the master of all four elements. There can only be one avatar alive at any given time. An Avatar can go into what is known as the Avatar State, where the avatar will unlock all of the powers of the previous avatars at once. Therefore each avatar gets more powerful than the avatar before, but at a great sacrifice. The Avatar State is triggered by intense emotional turmoil. It is a high energy state that can cause untold destruction and leaves the avatar exhausted afterward. It opens the bridge to the Spirit World and is hard to control. A masterful Avatar can unlock the Avatar State by choice, and while it would still be difficult to control, a master avatar can keep control long enough. If an avatar is killed in the Avatar State, the reincarnation cycle is broken and the avatar will no longer exist.
